Big Boi‘s performance at a collegiate football game quickly went awry as he attempted to fly the coop and shared the stage with an owl who wasn’t feeling the vibe.
The thing is, following Kennesaw State University’s game in Georgia, Big Boss brought one of his pet owls with him. Obviously, he thought this would be a great way to appease the fans. Ahhh, owls and men’s best-laid plans!
As you can see in the video, things did not go as planned. During Big Boi’s Saturday night performance, the owl became agitated and attempted to fly away, but he was restrained by the rapper’s gloved right hand.
Even though Sleepy Brown tried his best to divert the attention of the audience as Big Boi called in some assistance—possibly from a professional handler—the show continued, which nevertheless made for an uncomfortable walk-out.
In addition, he posted a video of him and the owl backstage before the game, which appeared to be relaxed.
Since a few years ago, Kennesaw State has lacked a live owl mascot, and Scrappy is now only a costume.
Big Boi has always loved owls; in a 2019 Rolling Stone interview, he proudly displayed his FOUR owls. He was definitely shining a light on Tula, Simon, Whodini, and Hootie!
