John Cena will return to WWE television on the March 6 episode of Raw in Boston, Massachusetts. The appearance of the 16-time World Champion caught the attention of many in the wrestling world, including Austin Theory.
The childhood Cena fan theory has made it no secret that he wants to one day face the wrestler-turned-actor in a dream match. It has been widely speculated that they could go head-to-head at WrestleMania 39 on April 1–2, but nothing has been confirmed.
Ahead of Cena’s Raw return, Theory spoke to Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Kevin Kellum about people comparing him to the five-time WrestleMania main-eventer:
“I’m not the John Cena of this generation. I’m Austin Theory. That’s all. John Cena, you can put me in that category if you want, but it’s probably because I excel at such a fast pace and people can see, that I’m definitely going to surpass him. I’m 25. How many championships did John Cena win at age 24? Because I was United States Champion at age 24. He has none Was.” [3:30 – 3:55]
Theory said he plans to meet Cena in the ring on Monday’s episode of Raw:
“So, just to put that in perspective, there’s only one Austin theory. But as we’re coming into WrestleMania, as we’re talking about John Cena being at the TD Garden in Boston, I’ll make sure I’m in his face.” , and I will show him the respect he deserves in the middle of the ring on my show, Monday Night Raw, this Monday.” [3:56 – 4:14]
In the above video, Theory dropped a major hint about who he might face at WrestleMania instead of Cena.
