According to officials, an Ohio grand jury ruled offensive tackle Joshua Sills of the Philadelphia Eagles not guilty of the allegations of rape and kidnapping.

According to court documents, the 25-year-old was charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree rape only days before this year’s Super Bowl. The charges arise from an event that happened on December 5, 2019, in Guernsey County.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost stated, “I still believe the victim.” However, in America, a conviction for a crime must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The jury did not notice it, and I am grateful to them for upholding the law.

The Philadelphia Eagles said in a statement that following the decision, the lineman will be added back to the team’s active roster.

The statement added, “The NFL has taken him off the commissioner’s exempt list and that he will rejoin the team’s active roster.
