Suspect shot and killed by police in Florida after a traffic stop

According to police, the guy who is accused of shooting two Florida police officers during a traffic check has passed away.

According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, officers from his department stopped an automobile on Friday night about 11 p.m. because it was wanted in connection with a killing in Miami.

Police have named the culprit as 28-year-old Daton Viel, who shot both officers before robbing another car and escaping the scene. The pursuit started.

According to Smith, the authorities eventually located Viel at a Holiday Inn in the 5900 block of Caravan Court. Police ordered a hotel evacuation and made an effort to free Viel from his barricaded room.

Viel fired several shots at SWAT police at roughly 8:58 in the morning, and the cops opened fire, killing the suspect, according to Smith.

According to Smith, Viel had a “extensive violent criminal history.” It was discovered that the second suspect was not responsible for the shooting.

Police have not identified any new suspects.

The unnamed cops are anticipated to make a full recovery.

Every time a cop is shot in our department, it is a tragedy because those officers are out guarding the neighborhood every day, according to Smith. They risk their lives each and every day to keep us safe, thus it is absurd and unacceptable for someone to treat them this way because they don’t want to return to jail.

Police stated that the inquiry is still open.
