A seasoned Red Dead Redemption 2 writer has posted an updated bio on LinkedIn, as opposed to quitting their jobs with a public announcement.
After 16 years, Michael Unsworth, Rockstar Games’ vice president of writing, has left the company. Even though you might not be familiar with the moniker Unsworth, their work has been felt and seen in both Grand Theft Auto and RDR. Unsworth worked on L.A. Noire (oh, how I adored that game), even if you’re not a fan of those series or Max Payne 3.
“Mike is an accomplished writer who spent more than 16 years working over Rockstar Games as a creative lead based on some of the most highly regarded and highly profitable video game franchises of the modern era, most notably Grand Theft Auto as well as Red Dead Redemption,” according to the RDR2 veteran writer’s updated profile. Interesting use of the third person, but each to their own.
Unsworth’s reasons for leaving are still unknown, primarily since neither they nor Rockstar have expressed a desire to discuss. Do they not even know what a profile update is? I assume they think it’s more than enough. We need all the information, particularly if it pertains to upcoming games like GTA 6. Even if Unsworth has moved on to new gaming opportunities, it’s possible that we will run into his name again.
Rockstar is undergoing transition, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up on RDR2—as if any of us would! Even more so now that we’ve found a truly “awesome” function that makes getting gold much simpler, despite the fact that this method of obtaining money is also oddly healthful. If GTA6 and its dynamic weather system don’t entice you to return to the game (assuming you ever left), you may look forward to it. Lightning has never looked so good, and fans are irrationally thrilled about it. Although to be fair, they have been patiently waiting for the game.
