A few people were taken into custody by the New York City Police Department on Wednesday night, a few blocks away from the yearly tree-lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center.

Following an hour-long demonstration in front of the News Corp building at 47th Street and 6th Avenue, a group of several hundred pro-Palestinian protestors unfolded a large flag and made a fleeting attempt to advance towards the tree. The movement was stopped by barricades and a police line.

After that, the group left the area by traveling south on 6th Avenue.

The NYPD reports that at the demonstration on Wednesday night, seven persons—six adults and one child—were taken into custody.

According to the NYPD, the demonstrators marched through Midtown Manhattan before leaving at approximately 11:00 p.m.

Prior to the ceremony, the NYPD announced that there would be a “heavy security presence” “to ensure that everyone could enjoy the celebration safely.”

The police skirmishes did not result in any reported serious injuries.

The demonstration fell on November 29, which has been the International Day of Solidarity With the Palestinian People since 1977.

There were no problems during the Rockefeller Center Christmas lighting, according to the police.

Counterterrorism officials with the New York City police issued a threat assessment advisory prior to the tree lighting, citing the possibility of disruptions due to protests sparked by the Israel-Hamas conflict.

ABC News was able to obtain the confidential document following protesters’ disruption of last week’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The procession was momentarily stopped when protesters wearing white jumpsuits leaped barricades and ran into the street. The bulletin said that they tried to stop the parade by splattering fake blood and sticking their hands to the sidewalk.

They were seen carrying signs that read “genocide then, genocide now” and holding Palestinian flags in videos that were uploaded online. Additionally, they could be heard shouting “Viva, viva Palestina.”

According to the document, 34 people were taken into custody by the NYPD in relation to the Thanksgiving Day incident on suspicion of harassment, trespassing, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and disorderly conduct.

The evaluation also mentioned how on November 24, demonstrators against Israeli actions in Gaza interrupted a tree-lighting ceremony in Seattle.
