Shannen Doherty, whose stage four breast cancer has now spread to her bones, says she is determined to fight this disease.
The actress from Beverly Hills 90210, in an interview with People magazine, expressed her resolve to continue her treatment.
“I have more life left in me. I have more love in me. “I’m not done creating,” declared the fifty-two-year-old.
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and has been open about her health struggles for a number of years.
She had a mastectomy in 2016, but the procedure revealed that the cancer cells might have moved outside of the lymph nodes.
After receiving radiation and chemotherapy, she declared herself to be in remission in 2017.
However, Doherty disclosed in February 2020 that following several years of remission, her breast cancer had returned at stage 4.
She revealed on Instagram earlier this year that the cancer had progressed from her chest to her brain and was now terminal when she shared a video of herself undergoing chemotherapy.
She says that “her most significant memory is yet to come” and that she hopes to recover with the availability of clinical trials and new cancer treatments.
The Tennessee-born American actress has acted in numerous TV shows and motion pictures, including Heathers, Girls Just Would Like to Have Fun, Little House on the Prairie, and Our House.
Resuming her work as Brenda Walsh in the 2019 Beverly Hills 90210 reboot is part of her current project.
“People simply assume that it means you’re unable to work, eat, or walk. In the interview, she stated, “They put you into the pasture at a very early age, saying ‘you’re done, you’re retired,’ and we’re not.”
We’re lively and approach life in such a different way. We are individuals who wish to work, live life to the fullest, and never stop progressing.”
The Charmed actor will talk about her experience with cancer and look back on her life thus far in her upcoming podcast, Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty.
