Cher has been reversing time for many years, resisting the passing of time with an ever-younger appearance and voice. However, the ageless 77-year-old singer is finding it difficult to accept that her beloved 1999 dance hit “Believe” is turning 25 this year, even after more than 60 years in the spotlight.
“Alright, it’s not that great. Pisses me, it pisses the f–k out of me,” the singer joked while talking about the anniversary with Harry Smith of the Today show. “You also can’t disclose that.”
The dance-pop hit that made everyone aware of the benefits of AutoTune spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It also earned three Grammy nominations, including Best Pop Album for the eponymous LP, record of the year for the single, and Best Dance Recording, which was won by the singer for the first time.
The singer said she’s not a fan of Father Time when Smith questioned her about whether or not she’s “not friends” with aging. Not at all. It didn’t bother my mother. However, I do. She shouted, “I hate it,” to her mother Georgia Holt, who passed away at the age of 96 in December of last year. What is her hatred of getting older? Cher remarked, “I’d give anything to be 70 again.”
With a bonus disc that includes three remixes of the song “Believe” from that era, three remixes/radio edits of the singles “Strong Enough” and “All or Nothing,” and four remixes of “Dov’è l’amore,” the singer’s 22nd studio album, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart, is now available in a 25th-anniversary deluxe edition.
Having spent ten years writing her memoir, My Name Is Barbra, Barbra Streisand, 81, has finally released it. However, Cher has stated that she is finding it difficult to move forward with the book. “I’ve lived too long and done too much, so it’s really difficult,” she remarked. Thus, in all honesty, it would have to be an encyclopedia.
Cher recently released her debut Christmas album, Christmas, and she will be playing some of the tracks on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Rockefeller Center on NBC. The show also features Chloe Bailey, David Foster, Katharine McPhee, Liz Gillies, Darlene Love, Seth MacFarlane, Barry Manilow, and more.
