Rebecca Loos does not appear to be pleased that David Beckham‘s past is being brought up again.
The “Beckham” Netflix docuseries takes a look back at the legendary soccer player’s life, including an alleged long-term relationship with his former personal aide Loos.
Loos discussed Beckham’s response to the issue from nearly 20 years ago with the Daily Mail. Loos is now a married mother of two living in Norway.
Both he and his wife Victoria Beckham discuss the suffering they went through at that time as a result of public scrutiny in the docuseries. The athlete in particular remembered how upset his wife was.
Loos told the Daily Mail in a recent interview, “He can say whatever he wants, of course, and I understand he has an image to keep, but he is portraying himself as the victim and he’s making me look like a liar, like I’ve made up these allegations. He is implying that Victoria’s suffering is my fault, inadvertently.
A Beckham representative has been contacted by CNN for comment.
After Beckham was traded to Madrid to play and Loos was hired there to work for him, the alleged affair took place. She stated in an interview with Sky News in 2004 that she and the sportsman started dating the previous year after they were seen leaving a nightclub together.
“I think the chemistry between myself and David was so strong, and some individuals were not happy since I was being inappropriate and he’s a married man,” she stated in the interview from 2004.
At the time, Beckham disputed the fidelity claims.
“I have two incredibly special children, a wonderful wife, and I am very happily married. According to him, “There is nothing any outside party can do to change this,” said the Guardian.
For her part, Loos has long since changed.
She described life in Norway as “not like England here, it’s much less judgmental.”
People over here are chill about it. They don’t give a damn, she claimed. “Well, I was with a married man once and I did this,” the majority of them [Norwegian friends] remark. Everyone seems to have engaged in some activity at some point.
Netflix is now streaming “Beckham”.
