According to media accounts, a passenger who had diarrhea on board prompted a Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona to turn back due to what the pilot described as a “biohazard issue.”

Two hours had passed after takeoff on Friday night on flight 194, when the pilot apparently requested to turn around.

He said that a passenger had diarrhea “all the way through the airplane” in audio that was uploaded to X (previously Twitter).

The next day, after cleaning, the plane took off for Barcelona.

According to the audio clip on X, which purports to be from air traffic control, “We’ve witnessed a passenger who’s got diarrhoea all the way onto the airplane,” they want us to return to Atlanta.

Delta said there had been a “medical issue” on board, forcing the plane to return to Atlanta for cleaning: “Delta Flight 194 connecting Atlanta to Barcelona got back to Atlanta following an onboard medical issue.

“Our employees worked as efficiently and safely as they could to finish cleaning the plane and get our passengers to their destination. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the disruption to their travel schedules and delay.

Following significant turbulence on a Delta aircraft from Milan to Atlanta last week, 11 passengers and staff members were hospitalized, according to the US-based airline.
