A representative for the Prince George’s County police stated that an officer shown in a popular video getting into a cruiser with a woman had been suspended.

After being posted on TikTok on Monday, the video had received 2.3 million views by Tuesday. The marked police car can be seen outside with the officer and an unnamed girl, whom the department has named Francesco Marlett. Before the video finishes, we observe the two entering the cruiser’s back together and closing the door behind them.

After being charged with punching his girlfriend’s 3-year-old child unconscious in 2016, Marlett was placed on administrative leave without pay.

The person who uploaded the video to TikTok was interviewed by FOX 5. He claimed that while they were in the Southlawn neighborhood park in Oxon Hill, his cousin recorded the video.

Steven Makell has spent 11 years residing in the area. Makell said that the footage was disappointing despite his desire to avoid making assumptions about what occurred.

“I believe it to be quite awful. You work for the police,” he said. “You’re a dependable person who can be relied upon to protect departments. If something were to happen, you would need to act quickly. If you are doing something you shouldn’t be doing, especially when there are kids nearby, and you are unable to do either of those. Off-duty is one thing, though. There is simply no justification when you are in a police cruiser and on duty in full dress. No one is perfect; everyone makes mistakes. But as I stated, you have been given a responsibility, and you must fulfill your duty. While on duty, be on duty. What you do in your spare time is your own business.

State’s attorney for Prince George’s County Aisha Braveboy claimed to be aware of the footage. Braveboy stated that the Prince George’s County Police Department’s internal affairs are currently looking into it.

“We don’t know the details of the situation. We’re not sure if the law or departmental policy was broken, you know? That happened. Internal affairs is investigating it because of this, and they will decide. Everyone needs to be aware that there is monitoring everywhere you go, whether it be cameras or poles, as we discussed today. or a person using a phone. You are exposed and in the open, Braveboy declared. The challenge is that objects appear rather one-dimensional when captured by a camera, so you can only view them. You are unaware of the feeling.

You are unaware of the feeling. You are unaware of the circumstances and the dialogue. Because of this, police departments have basic guidelines for how officers should behave when driving their cruisers and wearing their uniforms, but at this point, there is no evidence to support any criminal activity. The department is being investigated at this time.

The PGPD tweeted Tuesday, “We opened an investigation to find out the circumstances as soon as we got aware earlier today.” “Additional information will be made public once it has been looked into and verified.”
