Drake appeared to respond to critics of his association with Millie Bobby Brown on his new album For All The Dogs’ single Another Late Night, which was released on Friday.
The 36-year-old rapper and the 19-year-old actress sparked a slight scandal in 2018 when the Stranger Things star disclosed that they had been in close contact when she was just 14 years old during an interview.
The rapper, who is currently considering a hiatus from music to focus on his health, has subsequently used the issue as fodder for his lyrics, as seen by his latest album.
Drake mentioned the Enola Homes star by name in his new song, rapping: ‘Weirdos in my comments talkin’ regarding some Millie Bobby, look/Bring them laughs up to the gang, we are really flockin.’
The Find Your Love singer then appeared to offer a warning to detractors of his friendship with Brown.
He rapped to send a finger to your mama in a few FedEx boxes/Open up that s***, it’s jaw droppin’, very shockin.’
The Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress and Drake first met at a concert in Australia in November of 2017.
The couple then posed for a widely circulated photo in which the rapper wrapped his arm around the entertainer.
Brown later reported to W Magazine that the Grammy Award-winning artist had genuinely “invited me to his concert.”
The actress went on to say that she spoke ‘all the time’ with Drake and that she frequently sought ‘his guidance’ on her love life.
Following that, the rapper was widely chastised for cultivating an unhealthy attachment to the musician.
Brown later posted a statement on her Instagram Story defending her friendship with Drake, writing: ‘Why you gotta make a great friendship ur headline.’
The artist went on to say how grateful she was to be allowed to talk about whatever she wanted with the rapper.
‘I’m fortunate to have folks in the business who are willing to help me advance my career and share their expertise and advice. I’m incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful individuals in my life.’
‘It’s great to know that others understand what I do,’ she said. Now get back to talking about actual world concerns other than my buddies.’
Brown has yet to reply publicly to Drake’s new lyrics.
