Due to stomach issues that the hip-hop singer claims he has had for years, Drake said that he will be taking a break from music for “maybe a year or so.”

On Friday’s episode of “Table For One,” his radio show on SiriusXM’s Sound 42, the Canadian rapper stated he needed to pay more attention to his health problems.

“Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I would like people to be healthy in life,” he replied. “I’m just saying what it is; I’ve had the craziest stomach problems for years.”

“I got some other things I have to do for some other individuals that I made promises about but I probably won’t make music for a while, but I’m gonna be real with you,” the musician stated.

The Grammy Award winner predicted that he will likely take a year off from music.

I have a lot of other things that I would prefer to focus on, so I need to do this right,” he remarked. I don’t even know what a tiny bit is, so I’m going to lock the studio door for a while. Perhaps a year or even a little longer.

A Drake spokeswoman declined to make any additional comments regarding the musician’s break.

Just hours before the worldwide release of Drake’s most recent album, “For All the Dogs,” he declared his musical hiatus.

His eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs,” has 23 tracks and has appearances from artists including Chief Keef, SZA, J. Cole, Bad Bunny, and 21 Savage.

Before the complete album was out, Drake shared “8 am in Charlotte,” one of the album’s songs. The song’s official music video stars his son Adonis Graham, who created the album’s goat-themed artwork and dubbed it “Daddy Goat.”
