According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool has moved past the issue surrounding the erroneous VAR ruling that led to Luis Dáz’s goal against Tottenham last weekend being disallowed.
In Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Spurs, PGMOL acknowledged that D’az’s goal had been incorrectly disallowed for offside. Klopp remarked on Wednesday that he thinks a rematch would be the best course of action.
However, after their 2-0 Europa League victory over Union SG, Klopp claimed he had moved over the issue during a press conference.
“If I made an appearance that I was still in [Saturday’s] game, we’re not,” Klopp stated. “We’ve had enough. We are not youngsters. So that’s it. There was nothing wrong from the attention point of view.
The Premier League removed VAR officials Darren England & Dan Cook from this weekend’s games and released the audio of the conversation among the match officials at the center of the controversy.
The league will globally broadcast the upcoming episode of “Match Officials: Mic’d Up” on Tuesday. This program features exchanges between the referee and VAR officials.
It will be presented by Michael Owen with commentary from the Premier League’s top referee Howard Webb. It may also touch on the contentious situations from the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Liverpool will now focus on Brighton, whom they will encounter on Sunday lunchtime at the Amex Stadium.
