The famous talent competition series “America’s Got Talent” will get a new spinoff on NBC called “AGT: Fantasy League,” the network said on Thursday. The show is expected to debut in 2024.
The judges will individually select a roster of their favorite acts for the “Fantasy League” by selecting from the champions, finalists, viral sensations, and fan favorites from “America’s Got Talent” and “Got Talent” franchisees across the world that have already been pre-selected by fans. This process will be similar to a fantasy sports draft. Each judge will compete with the competitors for the first time in franchise history, mentoring and directing the acts throughout the competition in the hopes that their team will win. The Golden Buzzer will once again send acts directly to the finals, but this time there will be a twist: each judge will be able to use their prized Golden Buzzer for either their own act or to steal an act from the team of another judge.
Alongside “AGT” executive producer Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, Mel B will return to the panel of judges. As a host, Terry Crews will also be back.
On September 27, after the “AGT” finale, viewers can cast their votes for their favorite contestants using the America’s Got Talent app. As the judges pick their fantasy teams with 10 acts made up of singers, dancers, ventriloquists, comedians, aerialists, magicians, etc., they will carefully choose which 40 acts will be added to the “AGT” draft pool. As the show airs, viewers will be able to vote for the artists they want to advance to the finals each week.
Sam Donnelly and Jason Raff are the executive producers of the spinoff in addition to Cowell. The show is co-produced by Fremantle and Syco Entertainment. The franchise also has “AGT: All-Stars” and “AGT: The Champions” as spinoffs.
