A little over 13 years after Emma Stone‘s first Saturday Night Live hosting gig, the Curse actress has become a member of one of the most exclusive groups in TV history: the prestigious “Five-Timers Club.”

On December 2, Stone assumed control of the venerable sketch comedy series for the fifth time. She began proceedings by introducing a few special guests and giving the club members a chance to win that coveted jacket.

When Stone appeared on the SNL stage at 30 Rock on Saturday night, she was beaming and expressed how grateful she was to be the newest member of the group honoring the show’s five-time hosts, which is currently in its 49th season. As soon as she started talking, Tina Fey came over to greet her and welcome her to the group.

“At thirty-five years old, you are the youngest member on record. At 53, I am the second youngest,” she remarked, despite the fact Fey does not possess that title. Scarlett Johansson (39), Drew Barrymore (48), and Melissa McCarthy (53) would be the next in line for that honor.

They even included an entire section just for women a few years ago. The original idea belonged to Candice Bergen. Bergen joined them after that. The club has all the amenities Stone requested, including showers, a changing area, and a “large portrait with the eyes cut out so Martin Short can peek in.”

The women’s area, according to 77-year-old Bergen, was once “a small quiet place to cry,” but it eventually evolved into a “big luxurious place to cry.” Stone was now a part of SNL history, or SNL HERstory, as Bergen put it. That also meant getting the much-desired official Five-Timers Club jacket in black, purple, and velvet. One was passed to Fey from the side, and she placed it on Stone, who grinned widely.

“This is incredible,” she exclaimed. Since I was a young child, this has truly been a dream of mine. And that I get to spend this time with you guys means the world to me. Thus, I’m grateful. She felt something inside the pockets as she reached in.

She pulled out, well, a joint, and asked, “Is this a joint?”

Bergen remarked, “Oh, that must be Woody Harrelson’s jacket.”

Stone extended his reach and extracted an additional object. “This also contains a vaccination card.”

Fey said, “Oh, then it’s not Woody’s.”

The actress began hosting in October 2010 and eventually met her husband Dave McCary while filming a 2016 SNL episode. Her second job was in 2011, then she worked there again in 2016, which resulted in her romance with comedy writer McCary, and she worked there again most recently in 2019.

Stone made an entertaining cameo alongside cast member Sarah Sherman and musical guest Noah Kahan in the promo for this week’s show. Stone previously starred in a black-and-white solo clip on the Studio 8H stage under a spotlight.

She questioned, “What’s the secret to comedy?” into a microphone. A few beats over the allotted time, Stone declared, “Timing.”

Aside from Stone, the “Five-Timers Club” contains a few fairly notable members. For instance, Tom Hanks has hosted Saturday Night Live ten times, compared to Steve Martin’s sixteen. Melissa McCarthy, Ben Affleck, and Justin Timberlake have also served as showrunners five times each.
