On Saturday in the Wolverines’ first Big Ten game, Michigan will host Rutgers. After serving a three-game self-imposed suspension, Jim Harbaugh will be back on the sidelines for the Wolverines’ opening game. In his absence, the Wolverines had little issue, easily defeating East Carolina, UNLV, and Bowling Green. Despite playing sloppily against the Falcons in their most recent encounter, the Wolverines won 31-6. They will try to perform better against a Rutgers club that will be itching for an upset on Saturday. The Wolverines, the two-time defending Big Ten champions, hope to prevent the surprise and kick off conference play with a decisive victory.

The Scarlet Knights had a reputation for playing the Wolverines hard; in fact, they had a 17-14 halftime lead over Michigan the year before. They were ultimately defeated by the Wolverines, who scored 28 points in the third quarter to win the game. They are trying to build on their 3-0 start to the year by seeking different outcomes this time around.
The Scarlet Knights’ defense has played well, allowing only 30 points total in victories over Northwestern, Temple, and Virginia Tech.
On Saturday, though, things will be considerably harder because the Wolverines will undoubtedly have the strongest offense they have seen all season.
