On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals took the lead against the Pittsburgh Steelers thanks to a passing touchdown from Jake Browning, his rookie season.

With 10:30 remaining in the first half, the Bengals led 7-3 thanks to a touchdown on an 11-yard reception from tight end Drew Sample, who outran his own teammate at the goal line. The play was made by Cincinnati’s backup quarterback, who was completing his first career start. Sample ensured that Mitchell Wilcox, a fellow tight end, wouldn’t prevent him from scoring his third receiving touchdown of the season.

Cincinnati set up the score by taking advantage of a few clutch plays and a little bit of luck. With a kickoff return to Cincinnati’s 47-yard line, Trayveon Williams gave the Bengals great field position. The ball was then batted into the middle of the field, where wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was in position to catch a deflection and convert it into a 31-yard gain to Pittsburgh’s 16-yard line.

With starting quarterback Joe Burrow out due to a torn ligament in his right wrist, Cincinnati is attempting to find ways to win without him.
