Benetti said in a Tigers statement, “I’m extremely happy to join this historic and ascending Tigers franchise.” “It became evident from every person I spoke with during the interview process why so many well-respected professionals and creatives have joined the company in recent years. It has a unique quality, and I can’t wait to share that enthusiasm with Tigers supporters everywhere.”

Raised in Homewood and having called games at Wake Forest and Syracuse, Benetti has been a lifelong White Sox fan. After legendary broadcaster Ken “Hawk” Harrelson retired in 2016, he assumed the role of White Sox TV play-by-play announcer.

In a statement, the White Sox thanked Benetti “for everything he has done for the Chicago White Sox during his tenure and for all he represents for White Sox fans.”

“In a statement shared on the team’s social media platforms, White Sox spokesman Brooks Boyer stated that Jason is not only one of the greatest broadcasters in a variety of sports, but he is also a native fan who has dedicated his life to the team,” Boyer said.

Benetti’s replacement will be sought after, according to the White Sox.

“With Len Kasper fully dedicated to radio, our next step is to identify the best person to pair with Steve Stone in order to provide White Sox fans with smart, entertaining, & informative broadcasts in 2024,” said Boyer.

In addition, Benetti calls college football, college basketball, and Major League Baseball play-by-play for FOX’s nationwide broadcasts. In addition, he calls the NCAA Tournament on Westwood One’s radio broadcast.
