After learning that the pop star had filed for divorce, singer Joe Jonas and actor Sophie Turner jointly announced their separation on Wednesday.

“After four incredibly happy years of marriage, we have chosen to divorce peacefully. There are many possible explanations, but this was truly a decision made in unison, and we honestly hope that everyone would respect our desire for privacy for us and our children.

On their individual Instagram accounts, Jonas and Turner, who wed in 2019 and have two kids together, released the message.

Tuesday, the divorce petition for Joe Jonas was obtained exclusively by the NBC “TODAY” show. He declared that their marriage was “irretrievably broken” and that it would be best for their children if he & Turner “have discussed parental responsibility.”

In the petition, he additionally requested that a prenuptial agreement be upheld.

Over the holiday weekend, rumors that Jonas was consulting with divorce lawyers sparked speculation that he and Turner were experiencing marital problems. Considering the couple’s previous public appearances and social media messages, fans were shocked by the rumors. The Jonas Brothers’ tour’s Yankee Stadium debut was supported by Turner just a month ago. While performing in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, some fans also noticed that Jonas was wearing his wedding ring.

In May 2019, the “Game of Thrones” actor and singer from the Jonas Brothers wed in Las Vegas. A month later, they were married in a small ceremony at Château de Tourreau in the south of France. They had a daughter called Willa as their first child the following year, in July 2020. In 2022, Turner gave birth to the couple’s second child. The second child’s name has not been disclosed by the notoriously secretive couple.
