One day after defensive end Chandler Jones stated in since-deleted social media posts that the player no longer wanted to play for Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler, McDaniels said on Wednesday that Jones is not currently at the team’s facility and referred to the matter as a “private matter.”

McDaniels told reporters, “It’s a personal affair and a private matter. “We dealt with it, and I won’t talk about it anymore.”

On Tuesday, Jones wrote on Instagram, “It’s a shame that I am a top athlete having 112 sacks in the NFL yet I have to go to a nearby gym to work out throughout the season for no apparent reason. This is wild to me Josh but you know it is necessary to do what’s right.”

What time period Jones was alluding to was unclear. He missed a number of recent workouts due to an unidentified injury, but last week he made a comeback.

However, he stated that if McDaniels and Ziegler were still in charge, he “wanna play for the Raiders” wasn’t going to happen.

Jones stated that he preferred Patrick Graham to succeed him as head coach.

These remarks were different from what Jones posted on social media on Monday, in which he expressed his excitement for this year’s season. I’m having a terrific practice.”

In his first season in Las Vegas, Jones recorded 4.5 sacks for the Raiders in 15 games.
