Kai Cenat, a 21-year-old Twitch streamer, is in trouble when it appears that he instigated a brawl in New York City’s Union Square.
According to NBC News, all began on August 3 when Cenat posted on his Twitch account that he would conduct a “huge” giveaway featuring gaming consoles, computers, keyboards, chairs, and other accessories.
By the afternoon of Aug. 4, Cenat’s video had received more than 2 million views, and, according to New York City Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, “thousands” of admirers had gathered in the park where Cenat had stated he would be.
According to Maddrey, the city never approved nor sanctioned the event, which was set to begin at 4 p.m.
The police chief reported that 30 of the 65 people who were detained were minors when the gathering became boisterous.
Additionally, he claimed that during the incident, people flung bottles, pyrotechnics, rocks, and paint cans that had been stolen from a construction site at the park, injuring three cops, including one sergeant who broke his hand.
Cenat was taken away from the location for his safety during the commotion and is currently being held in detention. According to an NYPD representative, Cenat has been charged with riot, riot incitement, and unlawful assembly.

Past controversy with Kai Cenat
Cenat has often been barred from Twitch due to disruptive behavior, despite the fact that he continues to be a mainstay.
After consuming marijuana edibles, he allegedly once displayed “explicit content” & passed out on broadcast.
Nevertheless, the Twitch gamer has amassed a devoted following. He has even received numerous honors, including “Streamer of the Year” at both the 2023 Streamer Awards and the 12th Streamy Awards.
Cenat shared his experiences as an influencer in response to Complex’s question on whether being a Black streamer has made it harder for him to pursue a job.
People used to assume that my frequent bans were racially motivated when I was younger, he said. “Everyone used to get banned everywhere, but if a non-Black person did it, they wouldn’t get banned. Consequently, there was a strange atmosphere.
But if I may say so, I’m chilling right now, he added. “I’m OK. I’m not experiencing anything. However, I visit every blog post whenever I’m blocked. It’s strange, but for the moment I’m just chilling.
