Keke Palmer, who lives with Darius Jackson and has an 8-month-old son named Leodis, is asking for sole custody of the child because she believes the father has repeatedly abused him physically.
According to documents PEOPLE reviewed, the 30-year-old actress from Nope filed for a domestic violence restraining order in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Palmer claims that on Sunday, “Darius trespassed into my home despite my knowledge or consent, assaulted me, then physically attacked me — lunging for my neck, striking me, knocking me over the couch, as well as stealing my phone when I told him I was going to call the police.” Palmer makes these accusations in a filing with the California Superior Court.
She also provides screen grabs of what seems to be security video showing a man hitting a woman on top of a sofa. Palmer claims that during the course of two years, Jackson, 30, has abused her numerous times.
“Home security footage [from] February 13, 2022, after Darius body slammed me on the stairs by my neck” purportedly captured another incident.
“Many situations of physical violence, including striking as well as grabbing me around the neck, explanations of Darius destroying my personal property, which includes diaries and prescription eyeglasses, throwing all of my belongings into the street, throwing my car keys to keep me from driving away, striking my in front of our son, spewing profanities regarding me to our son, threats to kill himself with a gun if I departed him, harassment, and other physical and emotional abuse,” is what Palmer claims happened in the declaration.
Representatives for Palmer and Jackson could not be reached for comment by PEOPLE.
Palmer continued by saying that on Sunday night, when the incident occurred, Jackson had come to her house to take Leodis to a football game, yet the 8-month-old was not there because he had gone to see relatives with Palmer’s sister.
Jackson allegedly “knocked me backward over the couch, took my phone out of my hands, and subsequently ran out of the house” following a verbal altercation.
According to Palmer, “My home security camera captured the entire incident, which will be performed for the Court at the time of the hearing.”
“He nearly hit me with his car,” according to her, as she followed him outside to get her phone.
According to Palmer’s lawsuit, on or about April 21, 2022, the ex-couple went out to dinner at a Santa Barbara restaurant. However, Jackson reportedly lost his cool and accused Palmer of making advances toward a woman, which prompted the parents to return to their hotel early.
“Darius seized my prescription eyeglasses from my grasp, hurled them to the floor, and tramped on them. Then, according to the document, “he opened my bag, threw everything I owned onto the wet pavement, and threw my car keys across the parking lot before getting into his own car and driving off.”
In addition, she claims he would “love bomb” her.
According to the restraining order application, “the abuse during our relationship was not only physical but emotional and manipulative.” “Darius used to ‘love bomb’ me and treat me like the most important woman in the world, but if he felt that I had offended him, he would become very cold and distant. At parties and events, if I engaged in conversation with someone for an extended period of time or made a “certain” glance at someone, he would become enraged and storm off, calling me a “slut” and a “whore,” accusing me of betraying him and saying I didn’t love him. Darius had a talent for gaslighting me into thinking I was doing something improper when in fact I wasn’t.”
The problems between Palmer and Jackson came to light in July when Jackson confronted Palmer for watching Usher perform at his Las Vegas residency while sporting a form-fitting black bodysuit underneath a sheer dress.
“We live in a generation wherein a man of the family disregards the wife & mother to his kids show off their booty cheeks to please other & he gets told just how much of a hater he is,” Jackson wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted. I am here to represent myself and my family. Regarding my beliefs, I have standards and morals. My case is restated.”
Palmer co-wrote the song “Boyfriend” with the “OMG” singer, which went viral on social media following the rant.
