A ruptured Achilles tendon prevents North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum from competing against Republican presidential contenders.
Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback of the New York Jets, tore his Achilles tendon in the opening game of the 2023 NFL season. Following the debate on Wednesday night in Simi Valley, California’s Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Burgum discussed his recovery and poked fun at Rodgers.
“I haven’t walked since I entered the stage at the previous debate. I’ve been following a weight-bearing regimen for my Achilles. But from the spin room, Burgum told Fox News Digital, “We’re recovering quickly. And of course, I’m over the moon that I survived the season longer than Aaron Rodgers. I wish him luck. Kevin Durant had to wait 12 months before he could play again. I’m aiming to beat that timeline.
Burgum noted that the fact that Jets center Connor McGovern comes from the state he represents added an additional degree of insult to injury.
Burgum said, “It really hurts since the snapper, Connor McGovern, attended high school in Fargo, North Dakota. “I had a Jets jersey with the No. 60 on it for the first time in my life. for the snapper rather than the quarterback. Four snaps into the season, everyone in North Dakota is saying, “Connor McGovern is going to the Super Bowl,” and then it’s over.
The Jets are attempting to push through the remaining games in a manner akin to Burgum.
Rodgers was replaced at quarterback by Zach Wilson. The schedule doesn’t get much easier from here, as New York has lost its last two games.
In addition to Taylor Swift, the Jets will host the Kansas City Chiefs at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.
