After a gunshot on a street in the heart of Tel Aviv on Saturday, at least one man is in critical condition, according to Israeli police.
According to Tel Aviv mayor Ron Huldai, the potential shooter was subsequently fatally shot by a police patrol officer.
The attacker was “apparently” a resident of the Palestinian village of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, according to the Inspector General of the Israel Police.
The shooter had been “neutralized,” a police spokesman told the Israeli state channel, although he gave no other information about the alleged perpetrator.
The killing occurs a day after an Israeli civilian attack on a West Bank Palestinian hamlet claimed the life of a Palestinian youngster.
In the West Bank, where violence has been worse since last year due to more frequent Israeli incursions and Palestinian street attacks on Israelis, Washington has expressed worry over an uptick in attacks by Jewish settlers on Palestinian villages.
According to the mayor of the city, the man in serious condition is a patrol officer for the municipality. He claimed that after approaching the attacker after spotting something odd, the shooter fired at him.
Huldai declared, “We are seeing a very tragic occurrence. “We are requesting prayers for the injured’s recovery.”
