According to Allegheny Health, one of the two victims of the gunman’s attempt to kill former President Donald Trump at the rally was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
According to an email from the health system, David Dutch was released from Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
James Copenhaver, the second victim of the July 13 shooting, is still hospitalized and in critical but stable condition, according to Allegheny Health.
Thomas Crooks, 20, opened fire at the Butler, Pennsylvania, event and attempted to murder Trump while he was speaking onstage, wounding both men. Trump sustained an ear shot.
Former fire chief Corey Comperatore was shot and murdered at the event as well. Comperatore, 50, a father of two children, died, according to officials, protecting his family.
Crooks fired first, and was killed. Investigations are ongoing to determine a possible motive.
In a statement made on Wednesday at a House Judiciary Committee meeting, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that Crooks had looked up “how far away was Oswald from Kennedy,” a reference to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, one week before to the rally.
It “may have been less easy for people to observe” because Crooks’ weapon had a collapsible stock, according to Wray.
Crooks was already on the roof when the first people who are believed to have seen him with the gun saw him, according to Wray. According to him, investigators haven’t yet located anyone who observed him walking around with the rifle before that.
“One really important aspect that could be pertinent to that is the collapsible stock,” he stated.
