Since November 2, the San Antonio Spurs have not triumphed in a game. The losing streak reached 12 games on Sunday, November 26, when they lost again to the Denver Nuggets. Spurs supporters aren’t making mock NBA Drafts as part of their future planning. The supporters are ready for their Basketball Hall of Fame head coach to be replaced.

Although San Antonio basketball fans were reenergized during the summer by the Victor Wembanyama hype, the season has fallen well short of their championship expectations. Reddit users are almost done with head coach Gregg Popovich.

“If we take away the fact that Pop is the all-time greatest NBA coach with five titles, who else do you think would be a better head coach for the Spurs this year? And what would they do that you don’t think Pop would do?” U/amofai posted a question.

The user didn’t think that the coaching staff needed a change to return to championship aspirations, even though u/amofai posed the question. However, some supporters believe the Spurs would like to select a high draft pick in 2024.

Tanking is a choice made by the organization. They’ll still try to lose if you fire Pop and install anyone else in his place, U/tbuk100 commented. It’s not a coincidence that Wemby performs better when paired with Tre; our PF is actually our PG. It’s no coincidence that the Spurs don’t design plays for Wemby and handle him more like a guard than a 7’4″ big man.”

In search of Popovich’s replacement, Reddit user guillaume_rx is considering another NBA Champion coach.

“After Curry is finished and Pop retires having established a new dynasty, the answer is Steve Kerr in five years. Kerr may be in a boy’s dream. When considering long-term potential, the dynasty portion appears highly likely,” U/guillaume_rx.

Spurs fans aren’t used to the team’s 12-game losing streak, but they also haven’t made the playoffs in five years, so not all of them are giving up on Popovich. In other words, U/Secret-Discipline-18 said, “In Pop we trust.”
