One of the rumored guests on Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) re-record is never, ever going to be on it, despite rumors, innuendo, and a bucket full of tabloid headlines to the contrary. “Neither Matty Healy nor [The] 1975 are on this album,” a spokeswoman for the singer tells Billboard, putting to rest hysterical UK broadsheet rumors that the British band’s contentious lead man would be included on the reworked version of Swift’s 2014 album.
In May, after Healy had attended three of Swift’s Nashville Eras Tour concerts earlier in the month, the two were seen leaving New York’s Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village. The duo had purportedly dated for a short time earlier this year, though neither side has publicly confirmed that. At the time of publication, a spokesman for The 1975/Healy has not reacted when contacted for comment.
Swift revealed the news about 1989 last month, telling fans in a post that the album—due out on October 27—was the one that “changed my life in countless ways” and featured pop classics including “Bad Blood,” “Shake It Off,” and “Blank Space.”
To be really honest, this is my FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tunes are so amazing, that she continued the compilation that lasted 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200. They were never left behind, which I find hard to comprehend. but not for long.
Since revealing her re-recording project in 2019, Taylor Swift will release 1989 (Taylor’s Version) as the fourth iteration of the song. The preceding three songs, Red (Taylor’s Version), Fearless (Taylor’s Version), and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), all spent time at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) spent two weeks at the top in 2021.
Two songs from the 1989 remake have already been heard by the public: “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” debuted on TikTok in November 2021 and “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” was featured in the teaser for the Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty. The 1989 vinyl and three Deluxe Poster Edition CDs with special photographs inside will only be sold at Target; Swift revealed on Wednesday that an exclusive bonus track will be included in the tangerine edition. The vinyl and CDs are currently available for pre-order here. The re-release will also be offered on different vinyl colors other than the Target-exclusive aquamarine green and yellow “Sunrise Boulevard.”
