The upcoming Powerball drawing on Wednesday night features an estimated $835 million prize.
According to a Powerball news release, it is the second-largest purse in the history of the American lottery game and the fourth-largest overall.
Because no ticket matched all six numbers that were drawn on Monday night, the grand prize, which has an estimated monetary value of $390.4 million, grew to surpass $800 million. On the other hand, four tickets—three bought in Florida and one in Oregon—matched all five white balls to win $1 million rewards, according to Powerball.
The previous jackpot winner took home $1.08 billion on July 19, when a ticket bought in California matched all five white balls and the red Powerball. Since then, 29 draws in a row have occurred without a jackpot winner.
Jackpot winners have the option of taking their winnings in 30 annual payments spread over 29 years, or they can take them all at once. Federal and local taxes are not included in either of the listed prize selections.
According to Powerball, the jackpot’s growth is dependent on game sales and player engagement, but the odds of winning the top prize remain the same at 1 in 292.2 million.
In 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Powerball tickets are available for purchase for $2 each.
The Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee streams live Powerball drawings every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. On Powerball.com, you may watch the drawings live as well.
