A side article from Puck News about the historic pact distracted everyone’s attention with news of a possible “The Office” reboot while the WGA and Hollywood studios had reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.

“Greg Daniels is set to do a reboot of ‘The Office,’ for example,” Puck said in a bigger paragraph outlining how studios delayed revealing big projects while the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes were ongoing.

About the proposed reboot, nothing further is known. A request for comment was not answered by Daniels’ representatives, the showrunner who created “The Office” for American viewers.

Many members of the main cast of “The Office,” which aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013 for nine seasons, have previously shown interest in prospective reunions or reboots of the show.

For instance, Newton local John Krasinski declared that he would “absolutely” take the chance to return to his role as Jim Halpert, and he famously brought the ensemble back together for an episode of his pandemic-era web series “Some Good News.”

As a cast member, writer, and producer, Mindy Kaling, a native of Cambridge, hailed Daniels a “genius” and declared that she would participate as long as he was.

In an interview with Kaling for “The Talk,” Kaling stated, “I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t want to help out in some way, or write, if [Daniels] were in charge of it.” And I believe that the rest of the cast feels the same, too.

Steve Carell, an Acton native who left the program at the end of Season 7, is the most famous holdout in discussions of any prospective “The Office” relaunch or reunion. Carell has said in multiple interviews that he didn’t think he would take part in a reunion, saying Time he “never thought of it as a good idea.”

According to Carell, it “felt right” and “I think it happened in that time and with those people.” “There was something so wonderful about it, and I suppose it’s a weird way to describe it, but I love it enough to ever want to do it again. It holds too much sentimental value for me at that particular time.

If a 2022 interview Daniels gave to Collider is any indicator, viewers shouldn’t necessarily anticipate Michael, Jim, Pam, and Dwight, along with their other beloved characters to appear in this supposed “The Office” revival.

I’m unsure whether people would want more of it, and if they did, I doubt it would feature the same characters. stated Daniels. “I believe it would simply be like an expansion of the universe, you understand, similar to how [The] Mandalorian is like an expansion of Star Wars. But I’m not sure if people would desire that or not; it’s difficult to say.
