Trevor Lawrence is listed as day-to-day with a left knee injury, according to Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, who declined to go into further detail or confirm if his starting quarterback will be able to play in Thursday night’s game against the Saints.

According to Pederson, Lawrence’s knee is sore but feeling better today. Depending on how the knee reacts, he might share this week’s first-team practice repetitions with backup quarterback C.J. Beathard.

Lawrence underwent an MRI on Monday, but Pederson claimed he was unaware of the results or whether Lawrence had strained any ligaments.

“You’d have talked with Ferg [vice president of player health and performance Jeff Ferguson],” said Pederson. “That’s out of my jurisdiction.”

According to a league source, Lawrence’s knee ailment is a “sprain” and “not a significant thing,” according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

At 3:10 left in the Jaguars’ 37-20 victory against the Colts at EverBank Stadium on Sunday, Lawrence was hurt on a third-and-7 play at the Indianapolis 16-yard line. He faked a pitch to Travis Etienne Jr. to the right, rolled to the left, and was tackled at the 33-yard line by Colts defensive end Samson Ebukam.

As soon as he could, Lawrence grasped his left knee and sat down. Kevin Kaplan, the team doctor, inspected his knee as he left the field and proceeded to the bench. After some time, Lawrence stood up and started moving around. He stayed on the sidelines for the remainder of the game, took part in the post-game handshakes, and attended his post-game news conference without a knee wrap or brace. When he left the stadium on Sunday night, he seemed to have one on his left leg.

Prior to departing for New Orleans, the Jaguars (4-2) will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday and conduct a walkthrough on Monday. Beathard might play a few first-team snaps, according to Pederson.

If Trevor’s hurt, Pederson remarked. “This has been done previously. We did [when Lawrence sustained a toe injury versus Detroit] the previous year. Trevor completed the balance of the week’s exercises after C.J., and he was prepared to participate in the game on Wednesday.

In his career, Lawrence has never missed a start. Beathard has a 2-10 record as a starter and hasn’t started a game since the final two weeks of the 2020 campaign when playing with the 49ers. The next offseason, he committed to the Jaguars, playing in eight games while completing 11 of 15 passes for 77 yards and one interception.

The Jaguars might be without four offensive starters on Thursday if Lawrence, right guard Brandon Scherff (ankle), left guard Walker Little (knee), and receiver Zay Jones (knee) are all ruled out, according to Pederson.

In addition, cornerback Tyson Campbell (hamstring) is probably out against the Saints (3-3), according to Pederson. The Jaguars have a bad record in the Caesars Superdome—0-3 overall.
