Tyreek Hill‘s audacious preseason prediction might out to be accurate.

The Dolphins’ star wide receiver predicted that he would surpass 2000 receiving yards this season on his podcast “It Needed to Be Said” back in July. That seems to be a very real possibility after six games.

On Sunday against the Panthers, Hill recorded another 100-yard performance, catching six catches for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Hill has brought in 42 catches on 49 targets through six games for 814 yards and six touchdowns, a staggering 19.4 yards per catch. Hill is projected to have 119 receptions on 167 targets for 2,306 yards and 17 touchdowns, according to ESPN.com.

Moving ahead, it won’t be as simple for Hill to get the same startling results. Certainly helpful were the contests against porous Panthers, Giants, and Broncos defenses. The next three weeks have the Eagles, Chiefs, and a return game against the Patriots, who restricted Hill to a season-low 40 yards in Week 2. This tightens up the schedule. Hill can still break off a long one against any defense at any time, though.

Several times in NFL history, the mark of 17 receiving touchdowns was attained; nevertheless, Randy Moss set the current mark in 2007 with an absurd 23 touchdown catches. Hill achieved 119 catches last year, ranking 18th all-time for seasons with the most catches.

No one has ever amassed 2000 receiving yards, though. With 1964 yards in 2012, Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson has the most ever. With 1947 yards from two years ago, Cooper Kupp also nearly made it.

Someone will likely surpass 2000 receiving yards one day with an extra game on the schedule, the NFL becoming more of a passing league than it once was, and teams undoubtedly trying to emulate some of the play designs that Mike McDaniel has employed so well the past two seasons. Many participants will. After all, records are intended to be broken.

Fans in Miami might be watching one of the league’s most amazing players on the way to becoming the first right now.
