On Tuesday, defending champion Manchester City will play in the UEFA Champions League.
Here are five games to check out:
Manchester City vs. Red Star Belgrade
It is going to be held in Manchester, England’s Etihad Stadium at 19:00 GMT
As they take on Serbian team Red Star Belgrade, Man City hopes to extend their winning streak from the previous season.
The injured John Stones, Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic, and Kevin de Bruyne won’t be available for the hosts. Erling Haaland, who led all scorers in the Champions League last year, is anticipated to start.
Feyenoord vs Celtic
It is going to be held in Stadion Feyenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands at 19:00 GMT.
Both clubs, who are domestic league champions, have been devastated by injuries.
There are no defenders for Celtic. Along with the wingers Liel Abada and Marco Tilio, the injured list also includes Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh, and Yuki Kobayashi.
Both attacker Santiago Gimenez and goalkeeper Justin Bijlow are out for Feyenoord due to injuries. The Eredivisie team, though, is in excellent scoring form right now after scoring six, five, and then six once more in their last three games.
The Dutch team played six games in the group stage of the 2017 Champions League, winning just one of them.
AC Milan vs. Newcastle
It is going to be held in Milan, Italy’s San Siro at GMT 16:45
After a 20-year absence, Newcastle is participating in the largest club event in Europe. They have a difficult challenge before them when they take on AC Milan at the San Siro, but they can take solace in the knowledge that the Italian team has only triumphed once in their last 11 games against an English team.
Sandro Tonali, a former Milan midfielder who joined the Magpies in July, is now a member of the English club.
Milan has participated in the Champions League on 20 occasions, which is second-most among Italian teams (after Juventus’ 23). In the previous 14 seasons (2021–2022), they never once failed to get past the group stage’s opening round.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Borussia Dortmund
It is going to be held in Paris, France’s Parc des Princes at 19:00 GMT
These two teams last faced off during the 2019–20 season’s round of 16. PSG dropped the first leg 2-1 away but won the second one 2-0 to go to the championship game.
The defending French champions will rely on Kylian Mbappe to score in a group that also includes AC Milan and Newcastle because they are missing Neymar and Lionel Messi.
In 14 games, Borussia Dortmund has a mixed record versus French teams, with the German team taking home eight victories and six defeats. Dortmund scored six goals against Freiburg in a recent league match, so tonight’s entertainment seems likely.
Barcelona vs Antwerp
It is going to be held in Barcelona, Spain’s Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium at 19:00 GMT.
La Liga’s current champions Barcelona’s last two attempts to get past the group stage of the Champions League have failed.
Because Barcelona’s usual home stadium, Camp Nou, is undergoing repairs, the Belgian champions will be played at the Olympic Stadium by Xavi Hernandez’s club, who just defeated Real Betis 5-0 in La Liga.
Mark van Bommel, a former midfielder for Barcelona, is the head coach of Antwerp. The Dutchman has stated that his team would not be scared to challenge themselves and will attempt to play their aggressive, physical, offensive style.
