Upstate New York and Central New York are both on tornado watch, with storms coming

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Central New York, and storms are predicted to last until Saturday night.

The warning was issued only a few days after four tornadoes made landfall in the area.

The watch is in effect for 24 counties overall and lasts until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The counties of Onondaga, Oswego, Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, and Seneca are located in Central New York.

According to weather forecasters, there is an 80% probability of precipitation in Syracuse with thunderstorms likely to form after 5 p.m.

Around 8 o’clock is when the storms are predicted to end. They may bring heavy rain, tiny hail, and strong winds.

Basements in Central New York flooded earlier in the week. Syracuse broke its all-time rainfall record. People were seen kayaking in the streets of Central New York since certain areas had flooded so severely.
