The mullet is now officially gone on Morgan Wallen.
The One Night At A Time Tour by Wallen visited Ohio Stadium on August 11. On the first night of his back-to-back shows in Columbus, Ohio, the “Last Night” singer debuted what appeared to be a shaven head.
On the official Instagram account for the Schottenstein Center, another location on the college’s campus, a video of Wallen’s performance was posted. In the videos, the 30-year-old’s radical haircut, which appeared to be a buzzcut rather than his characteristic style, was visible behind a baseball cap.
Morgan Wallen shaved his mullet for what reason?
On stage at Ohio Stadium during the most recent leg of his One Night At A Time Tour, Wallen made a quick mention of his haircut after six weeks of the singer’s scheduled gigs had to be postponed due to “vocal fold trauma.”
The country singer told the crowd, according to a fan who recorded the scene on TikTok, “And before we get any further, I didn’t like the long hair anymore, so I shaved it off.”
Wallen’s mullet has made him famous over the years.
In an interview with People in October 2019, the musician explained the history of his recognizable hairdo. He has been sporting the mullet for over a year at that point and told the publication he didn’t “want to lose it.”
When asked where he got the idea for his hairdo, the man credited his father, saying, “When my dad was my age, he grew out a mullet, and I wanted to try it.”
“I went back home to my parent’s house for a holiday, and myself ended up looking at photo albums, simply attempting to take a trip down memory lane,” he continued. “My father had a mullet when they got married. Since my father and I have a lot in common and he is one of my best friends, I thought, “Man, if Dad could do it, I would do it.
Wallen initially claimed that his management group and record company, Big Loud Label, were not initially lovers of his mullet. Big Loud Label temporarily terminated the singer’s contract in February 2021 after Wallen was caught on camera using a racial slur. But his coworkers learned to like the look over time.
“I did it, and it instantly became this phenomenon. He continued, “Now dudes turn up to my gigs with mullets and cut-off flannels! It’s just something that I didn’t expect at all, but it’s now part of my brand! Man, what’s going on here, I thought. My favorite. So I’ve stayed with it. I’m simply having fun with it, man; I have no idea how long it will stay.
How did the public respond to Morgan Wallen’s new haircut?
Social media users expressed their uncensored opinions regarding the country singer’s striking hair change.
On the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, a fan remarked, “I would say goodnight but it ain’t good considering morgan wallen shaved the mullet.” “I’m inconsolable,”
A different supporter continued, “Morgan Wallen shaving his head is a crime.”
A supporter tweeted, “Morgan Wallen shaved his mullet.” “No, I’m not fine, and processing will take 3-5 business days. Prayers accepted.
Fans who praised Wallen’s haircut were on the other extreme of the spectrum.
“Am I the only one not frustrated with @MorganWallen for cutting his hair,” one supporter asked in a comment.
Another admirer commented that the singer would feel better at ease with the haircut during the summer, stating, “Honestly, a mullet is very hot to wear outside. For it, @MorganWallen, I’m here.
“This morning we are delighted @MorganWallen got a haircut for the very first time in 5 years #byebyemullet,” one supporter commented.
