Women are now asking the males in their life how often they recall the Roman Empire, and the replies usually surprise them, according to a recent social media trend.

Many wives, girlfriends, & partners are becoming aware of an astonishing fact about the men in their lives thanks to a viral idea going around on social media: they frequently ponder about the Roman Empire.

The term “Roman Empire” refers to a realm controlled by emperors 2,000 years ago that included parts of Europe, North Africa, & Western Asia. Its innovations in technology, law, religion, and culture continue to have an impact today.

Although the Roman Empire tag on TikTok has received over 881.8 million views, there is still some confusion regarding why women are suddenly asking the males in their lives how often they think about it.

What is the TikTok trend for the Roman Empire?

Gaius Flavius, a Swedish-based Roman reenactor, posted an Instagram video in August to his 100,000 followers with the message, “Ladies, many of you are unaware of how often men think of the Roman Empire.”

TikTok ultimately caught on to the trend. The author Sam Slupski recalled seeing the meme and asking their husband in the video with the most views (5.1 million).

Slupski recalled, “He said every single day, and then we had a 45-minute discussion about the Roman Empire.”

In a different clip, TikToker Kira Kosarin asked her lover in private, to which he replied, “Three times a day.” There were 3.7 million views of the video.

In a TikTok video with 3.5 million views, Laine Bullinger also captured her boyfriend’s response to the query, in which he deadpanned “not a lot – twice a week.” She questioned him as to why, and he answered, “They were the second most powerful empire.”

But is this actually the cause of men’s frequent thoughts of the Roman Empire?

Why are males so fascinated by the Roman Empire?

Women wonder why males think so much about the Roman Empire as the trend grows more and more popular.

While some men have tried to explain their interest in the historical period in comment sections, one TikToker even went so far as to create an entire explanatory video for why males think about the Roman Empire so frequently.

Roman Empire trend explained from a man’s perspective was the caption of a TikTok created by a user on the platform going by the username themasculineedge.

Men are compelled to conquer by nature, he claimed. We have and will continue to do so. We aim to dominate. We want to rule the world. We like to take risks. If we don’t have it, we imagine it because we need and want it.

“The masses of men life lives of quiet despair,” he added, “is a famous statement. If your man is considering building their own empire before conquest, it is because he is not engaging in enough conquest in his own life.

Not everybody who commented, though, agreed with his notion. One remark stated that “Roman victory is not the only thing that matters; it’s also about civilization, glory, honor, culture, longevity, etc.

An alternative theory was put out by someone else, who wrote, “It’s just interesting to see the extent that it got with its impact along with a look at all the things the inventions & how they fell.”
