Paulo Dybala
He tore his hamstring on October 9 when he took a penalty and scored. At first, it looked unlikely that he would be available for the World Cup but he has recovered in time and is on the roster. He was left out of the squad for a warm-up match against the UAE on 16 November and was among a group of players that coach Lionel Scaloni admitted could still be dropped from the squad.
Giovanni Lo Celso
The midfielder suffered a torn quad while playing for Villarreal on October 30. Parent club Tottenham want him to undergo surgery and he has missed out on a move to Qatar.
Nicolas Gonzalez
The forward has missed Fiorentina’s last four games with a muscle problem. Argentina confirmed on November 17 that Angel Correa would take his place in the World Cup squad.
Joaquin Correa
The Inter Milan attacker scored in a 5-0 friendly win over UAE on November 16, but a knee injury in that game ruled him out of the World Cup. Thiago Almada has been appointed in his place.
