Buffalo lost 25-20 to the Jaguars on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as linebacker Matt Milano went down with a knee injury.
On the Jaguars’ second possession, Milano was hurt on a third-and-6 play from the Bills’ 10-yard line. In the end zone, quarterback Trevor Lawrence attempted to complete a ball intended for wide receiver Christian Kirk but it was incomplete due to early pressure from Bills defenders, including defensive tackle Ed Oliver. Milano was one of the defenders who arrived late and landed on top of a group of athletes. He was obviously upset after the play, and athletic trainers had to help him off the field. Later, he was carried to the locker room from the sideline.
protective end Walker Little of the Jaguars’ offensive line and Leonard Floyd also suffered injuries during the play. Floyd was let to go back. With a knee injury, Little’s ability to return was in doubt.
Dorian Williams, a rookie, replaced Milano, who is regarded as one of the NFL’s top linebackers. Last season, he was selected to the Pro Bowl and the First Team All-Pro for the first time in his career. 29-year-old Milano has made 27 tackles, one interception, and two passes defended so far this season. He signed a two-year contract deal with the Bills in the offseason that runs through 2026.
One of the injuries suffered by the Bills’ defense is Milano’s. Starting cornerback Christian Benford (shoulder), starting defensive end Greg Rousseau (foot), and starting defensive end Shaq Lawson (toe) are all out. Due to a pectoral injury, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and defensive end Kingsley Jonathan are both questionable for return.
Tre’Davious White, a cornerback with the Bills, suffered a torn right Achilles last week, ending his season.
