Houston will not be a destination on Travis Scott’s upcoming tour after all.

The Houston-area rapper, who has come under fire locally after 10 concertgoers died during his Astroworld Festival performance in 2021, announced the dates for his next Utopia-Circus Maximus tour on Tuesday. From October 11 to December 29, it will be performed in 28 cities around North America.

Scott’s hometown of Houston was not listed on the tour schedule that was made public on Tuesday, despite Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s prior statement that the tour will feature a stop at Toyota Center in October. The American Airlines Center in Dallas and the Moody Center in Austin will host the tour’s lone stops in Texas on October 17 and November 21, respectively.

The Houston Police Officers’ Union issued a statement expressing “disbelief” when Turner said Scott would play in Houston for the initial time since the Astroworld Festival disaster on Nov. 5, 2021.

The union at the time stated, “We believe that it is unreasonable to permit this event to go and call upon elected leaders to stand up and say, “Not in our city, not again!”

On July 28, Scott released his most recent album, “Utopia,” which coincided with the publication of a 1,266-page report by the Houston Police Department on their investigation of the fatal concert in 2021. The investigation was made public roughly a month after a Harris County grand jury decided not to prosecute Scott and five other people with any crimes.

In addition to the 10 people who lost their lives due to the crowd’s compression, hundreds more were hurt, which led to a flurry of civil claims being brought against Scott and the event’s organizers, such as Live Nation. Numerous of those civil cases are still open.

The “Utopia” album has held the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the past four weeks. Since Drake’s “Scorpion” album in 2018, it is the first rap album to achieve that accomplishment.

At travisscott.com, tickets for Scott’s forthcoming performances will go on sale at 10 a.m.
